Janice Deringer is a member of Wipfli Financial Advisors’ (Wipfli Financial) Investment Committee, where she brings over 25 years of experience in investment management and financial planning to consult on our process and approach to developing investment strategies for clients.
Janice’s experience includes managing tactical and strategic asset allocation, international indexed equities, transition services and quantitative equities at Wells Fargo Investment Advisors (later Barclays Global Investors [BGI] and now Blackrock). She also acted as Interim Chief Investment Officer for BGI’s Sydney, Australia, office, where she evolved the investment strategy, focused on client retention and built an effective portfolio management team. At one point, she served as Interim Manager for the U.S.-based equity team, which managed national and international assets of $450 billion.
Janice has been featured in Money magazine in a piece that focused on funds that perform well in difficult, down markets. In addition, she co-authored a chapter titled, “Development and Implementation of a Tactical Asset Allocation Model at Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors” in the portfolio management strategy book, Global Asset Allocation: Techniques for Optimizing Portfolio Management.
In addition, Janice built a consulting platform that provides special-situations management consulting to financial services companies, with work in risk management, interim team management, system integration for process improvement and investment-based content. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System.
In an effort to give back to the community, Janice frequently speaks to women’s groups on financial topics and shares her financial and investment knowledge as a guest blogger for various organizations, including the Women’s Center for Leadership. Teaching women tools for creating financial health is one of Janice’s special passions.
